A Sunny Side Up Mystery

Well, I think the chicken came before the egg. Why? Here is my theory. But in order for me to explain my theory, I will have to take you back to the beginning of time when God made the world. Yes, I’m going to be a little religious about this because it is the only way I can explain my theory.

In the beginning, God made the world, with which He then filled with animals. He said, “Be fruitful. Multiply.” He commanded the animals to have offspring of their own. Meaning, they will have to ‘make’ their own babies and then either give birth or lay eggs. I suppose when He made all animals, the chicken was also one of them. So, the chicken must have come first before the egg. Where else would the egg have come from?

Still not convinced? Look at it this way. Who came first? Man or baby? Who did God made first? He made man. A man named Adam and then He made Eve. He made humans in their adult form and then asked them to have babies of their own, which they did. They ‘made’ their own kids. Thus, baby Cain and Abel were born. They were formed in their mother’s womb where the miracle of conception happened. Need I explain further about conception? Get the picture? I think you get me, right?

For those who say that the egg came first would probably think that the egg is the place where chickens originated from. Different people have different views on why they say or think that the egg came first. They would say this, “Where did the chicken come from? Obviously, it came from the egg.” But then, where did the egg come from? The chicken. No? The egg is then formed inside the chicken, isn’t it? The chicken came from God (Now, I hope you do not ask me where God came from).

Okay, to be more specific (or scientific), a female chicken can lay eggs on her own without a male chicken. But the eggs laid are unfertilized; therefore, these eggs will not hatch. So, no chicks will come out of that shell no matter how long you wait. Likewise with human beings, female humans produce their own eggs too. But these eggs will not turn into babies without the help of her male partner (Unless you have an immaculate conception. Now that’s another story).

I still stand on what I said earlier about the chicken coming before the egg. See, it takes two chickens (male and female of course) to make eggs – ones that will hatch into chicks. How can an egg just appear like that out of nowhere? Heard some jokers saying, “The egg came from the chicken’s butt.” Well, I think there is no reason for us to examine this yoke... I mean joke. We will just leave it at that.

This can go round and round until we ‘crack’ trying to solve this riddle. But I think I have made my theory clear that the chicken came before the egg. It’s nothing much, though but I think this riddle needs someone who dares to ruffle some feathers or give another view on this sunny side up mystery.
